Abstract

This Nordtest method describes a procedure to assess the corrosion protection class of inorganic coatings on steel from the results of an accelerated corrosion test. The corrosion protection class of a coating is defined from the atmospheric corrosivity classes given in ISO 9226 for zinc and carbon steel. The corrosion protection class of a coating corresponds to the highest atmospheric corrosivity class in which the coating can protect the metal from corrosion for a time period of 15 years.
