Screw top containers: Openability (NT CONS 007)

Abstract

  The function of the test is to measure the torques that consumers must apply when opening certain domestic packages with screw tops. By comparing the measurements of torques that people are able to apply with the breaking torques required to open these containers, it is possible to make statements about the percentage of consumers who are likely to be able to open a given screw top container without opening aids. It is also possible to specify target breaking torques, or norms, which screw top containers should possess.
