Abstract

This test method specifies the environmental tests for the transmitter and receiver forming part of a wire-free fire or intrusion alarm system which uses one of the three frequency bands dedicated for alarm systems in general in the frequency range of 868.600 MHz to 869.700 MHz. This test method applies to all types of detectors, manual call points, attack alarms, peripherals, repeaters/gateways and control and indicating equipment which include a transmitter and/or a receiver and which are capable of being activated and of transmitting and/or receiving alarm and fault signals via the wire-free interconnection. The test method ensures that not only the alarm system part itself but also the performance of the wire-free radio interconnection are functionally tested in connection with the environmental tests. The test method includes environmental test methods including a functional testing of the wire-free interconnections, before, during (only in some tests) and after the conditioning. During functional testing, the transmitter and the receiver are mounted in separate rf-shielded test fixtures. Between the test fixtures, a shielded cable and an attenuator are connected.
