Abstract
1. SCOPE
To determine the size of the hole made by dropping a standard brass cone onto a nonwoven geotextile, supported by water, and to provide an indication of the ability of that fabric to resist a sudden impact.
2. FIELD OF APPLICATION
This NORDTEST method may be applied to nonwoven geotextiles, which are used as separator and filter in earth constructions.
The test arrangement simulates a common embedding situation, where crushed rock or boulders are dropped onto a fabric supported by weak, water-saturated soil, and which may penetrate and thus damage the geotextile. By means of the described test procedure the ability of a geotextile to resist sudden impact can be judged.
