Manhole covers and pressure balance valves – Methods for a type test (NT MECH 034)

Abstract

  These test methods apply to the requirements and tests for manhole covers and pressure balance valves intended for tanks and tank containers for the transport of dangerous goods. Type approval is required for manhole covers and pressure balance valves on tanks and tank containers for substances referred to in marginal 211 310 (d) of ADR (1993). ADR marginals 211 130, 211 131, 212 130 and 212 131 specify the general requirements for the equipment and also for the equipment for which type approval is mandatory. A type approval is issued by an authorised body and is based on the results from a combination of a type test according to these test methods and a design/construction examination.
